I’m All In, Against All Odds

Bobcat Love

Maybe I should have actually picked a title for this post, eh?  No, two titles will have to do, because there’s meaning behind both.  Here’s what I have to say.

Often we try to do things in canonical form.  If it hasn’t been done any other way before, don’t take a risk.  Surely, if a large majority has not succeeded at going against the flow, it’s not the right thing to do.  This is the way most people think.  Don’t be “most people.”  Be you.

Aldous Huxley said,

“There’s only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.”

No matter what anyone tells you, there is always another way to accomplish your goals, to become the person you have always been meant to be.  When the naysayers say it isn’t possible, that you’ll never escape the person you are, remember Charles Kettering’s words:

“If you have always done it that way, it is probably wrong.”

Simple enough, right?  It might not always be the case, but that’s why the word “probably” is being used here.

It is extremely important to take time to analyze yourself.  Analyze your daily actions.  Compare them with your thoughts.  Do the two match up?  If not, you need to take action now.  Read the words of Tony Robbins:

“There’s a moment when you change your life.  There’s a moment when you make a decision.  When you say I do / I love you / Let’s Begin / I quit / It’s over.”

Tony doesn’t think of change as a process, he sees it as an instant.  A decision.  An instantaneous alteration of direction.  It’s paramount to think of change this way.  Change is not a learned process, it’s a decision you have to make, and you have to hold yourself accountable to it.

I’ve made the decision to be the things I’ve always thought I couldn’t.  The process was a simple one – I made the decision, and now I’m sticking to it.  It’s simple, but it’s extremely difficult to make that decision.  All of the critics in your head will sound their opposition, but it is ultimately your choice.  Are you going to live your life for everyone else, or are you going to live it for you?

I’m all in.  Even if I lose the game, I’m all in for life.  There is no turning back once this commitment is made.  There will be plenty of opposition, but you must stand strong.  The key to a meaningful life is being true to yourself.

Against all odds, I’m all in for life.
